Rediscovering Our Shared Humanity
I haven’t written in a while, but I have come out of my writing slumber to say that I wholeheartedly disagree with this New Age idea that we don’t owe each other anything.
Let me be crystal clear, as some of us, from all over the gender spectrum, seem to be suffering from a very serious case of Dumb Bitch Syndrome ™. We have to mind the most vulnerable in our societies, so allow me to be unmistakably explicit :
There are things you cannot owe someone else, things such as your time, your soul, your body, your dignity etc… These are things that are intrinsic to you, belong to you, and/or result from you. They are yours and yours alone. They are yours to do whatever you want with. As a matter of fact, everyone agrees, so there are even laws in place to keep them yours.
Now, on this much, me and all the New Age sociopaths agree.
You might think I’m too being harsh, but am I really ?
Isn’t it against everything you know to be true to think that humans can or should function like disconnected islands ?
Isn’t it maladaptively harmful to try to convince a bunch of social animals that they should no longer rely on the social currency that put them on top of the food chain on this planet ?
I despise ideas and people alike that are harmful to our species.
You don’t owe your spirit or servitude to any motherfucker on Earth.
But kindness, respect, an attempt at making the world a better place ?
That much, you owe every person you meet. That much, we all owe one another.
Think about the two worlds this small mindset difference creates. One is self-serving and one serves the Self. It is the mark of a mature soul to want to spread healing and love. It is an honorable thing to want to make the world a better place. And with the kind of world the self-serving mindset has already created for us, you better believe just one attempt at healing this place is not gonna cut it.
Trust me, the alternative is not exactly *fun* either way. Because if we don’t owe each other anything; if we continue with this AgE oF AqUaRiUs delusions, then I kindly invite you to get comfortable as you watch the final chapters of our kind unfold, on this burning planet, where we don’t owe each other anything.
